Mike Bruffey, Outgoing MGHA Deputy Director
The best career advice I ever received was to do something I truly
enjoy and am passionate about. I truly enjoy working in the gaming
industry, and I am passionate about telling the story of this industry
to anyone who will listen. When we passed gaming legislation in
1990, it transformed our state. It has provided thousands of jobs to
Mississippians, it has generated billions (yes, billions) in tax revenue, it
has brought millions of visitors to our beautiful state, and the indirect
benefits to other businesses and to our communities are immeasurable.
I cannot express how thankful I am to the Mississippi casino operators
and to Larry for giving me the opportunity to serve as deputy director
for the Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association during the past
eight years. I turn these duties over to Allen Godfrey, someone who I admire greatly, and who I know will do a fantastic job. I have so many amazing memories working with Larry Gregory, MGHA executive director. I will treasure all of them. I wish nothing but the best for each of you and for this industry.
Allen Godfrey, Incoming MGHA Deputy Director
The saying goes that when one door closes, another opens, and that
is where I find myself today. I retired as executive director from the Mississippi Gaming Commission effective Oct. 1, 2021, and began
work with the Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association as deputy director one month later, Nov. 1, 2021. I have enjoyed being associated with such a fine industry full of tremendous individuals since 1992, and now I am able to continue being a part of something so valuable
to the state of Mississippi. I look forward to where this path will take me and the new people I will meet. It will be hard to fill the shoes of Mike Bruffey, as I am finding out what he put into this job of assisting Larry Gregory, but I accept the challenge and look forward to what the future will bring.
