• Gaming and tourism are a driving force in the state. Tourism remains the fourth largest industry with gaming and hospitality leading the way.
• Of Mississippi’s 82 counties, Coastal Mississippi accounts for one-third of the state’s tourism employees, expenditures, and taxes, bringing approximately 14.2 million visitors annually. This translates to $3.3 billion in economic impact.
• People from around the world continue to visit Mississippi, discovering it to be a wonderful state that has much to offer. Overall, in FY 2021 Mississippi experienced a 35% increase in visitation compared to 2020.
• There is much for visitors to experience in Mississippi: great food, history, literature, blues music, gaming and entertainment. Every community in the Magnolia state has its own story to share. We know if visitors come, they will return!
