When you Play on the Bay, bring a hearty appetite! Hancock County is the crown jewel of the Mississippi Gulf Coast dining scene. Dining choices offer a wide range of cuisine. We have whatever you’re craving — seafood, regional, Creole/Cajun, Mexican, Asian, and much more.
We’re known for our famous fresh seafood that includes fish, oysters,
soft shell crab and shrimp. You just can’t beat oysters on the half shell, gumbo, or a shrimp poboy on
French bread. Regional favorites are jambalaya, shrimp Creole, crab cakes and shrimp and grits. Want a break from seafood? Red beans and rice is also a popular regional favorite.
Not to be overlooked is our typical Southern food that includes fried chicken, vegetables, roast beef and spicy barbecue. There are restaurants serving mouth-watering steaks and those featuring pizza, sandwiches and burgers. Luscious desserts, doughnuts, artisanal breads and ice creams complete the tasty choices.
The dining atmosphere runs the gamut, too. Relax with a cold beer and a burger overlooking the bay, sit at a bar surrounded with history while
you sip a cocktail and eat charbroiled oysters, or dine in a beautiful setting to celebrate a special occasion.
