COMMUNITY CARE NETWORK

Homelessness is being dealt with in three ways
by the Community Care Network (CCN). This faith-based nonprofit provides safe environments and healthy living programs for women, children and families dealing with various aspects of trauma leading to homelessness.
“Our goal is to help our clients heal, rebuild their lives, and re-enter the community as the purpose driven, loving and independent individuals Christ has called them to be,” said Allyson Brewer, associate director.
There are three programs through which CCN serves those needing help. Sue’s Home is the only long term transitional home for women, children and expectant mothers in the area. Women
living here have recently completed an addiction
recovery program, incarceration, or have otherwise become homeless.
“Many individuals are one paycheck away from becoming homeless,” Brewer said. “If a single parent misses work because a child is sick and loses their job, or if someone must choose between treating an illness and paying their rent, the My Home program is there to bridge the gap.”
Breakthrough is designed to meet the needs of 18-to-24-year-olds, the fastest growing homeless population on the Coast. “Most of these vulnerable youth are ‘aging out’ of foster care. In collaboration with youth courts and other partners, Community Care Network is now able to assist these young people by providing them with housing, life skills training, mentoring and counseling.
CCN is looking for volunteers, donations and vehicles. “Transportation is one of the greatest challenges our clients face and donating a working vehicle is a great tax deductible way to change a life for the
better,” Brewer said.
